Linguistic Diversity in Switzerland: Theory and Practice of Multilingualism in the Romansh-Speaking Grisons
This program aims to deepen participants’ understanding of the linguistic and cultural diversity of German-speaking regions through a week stay in Zurich, Switzerland. Building upon research and presentations conducted in preparatory classes in Japan, 22 students will further their comprehension of Swiss language, culture, society, and history through visits and investigations in and around Zurich. This time, we are hosting a lecture by Dr. Jonas Rüegg of the University of Zurich’s History Department, focusing on the theme of “Linguistic Diversity in Switzerland.” In addition to learning about Switzerland’s linguistic diversity, a further goal of this event is to foster broader exchange among students and researchers from the University of Zurich and Kwansei Gakuin University. We also welcome participation from those interested in studying in Japan and research exchange with our university.
